Is HHC banned?
Yes, HHC is banned in Germany. Since 23 May 2026, HHC has been listed in Annex II of the German Narcotics Act (BtMG), and before that, since 27 June 2024, in the annex to the NpSG. I LOVE POT therefore does not carry any HHC products. Trading, acquiring and possessing HHC without a permit under narcotics law are therefore punishable under the BtMG. What HHC is
HHC stands for hexahydrocannabinol. It is a cannabinoid that occurs in the hemp plant at most in traces. The BtMG names HHC explicitly.
Timeline of the HHC ban in Germany
- Until June 2024: HHC was commercially available in Germany.
- 27 June 2024: From this date, HHC was listed in the annex to the NpSG.
- 23 May 2026: With the Twenty-Seventh Ordinance amending annexes of the Narcotics Act (BGBl. 2026 I No. 150), HHC is listed in Annex II of the BtMG.
Acquisition and possession were banned under § 3 NpSG, but not punishable under § 4 NpSG. Under § 29 BtMG they are punishable.
What Annex II of the BtMG means
Annex II lists narcotics that are marketable but cannot be prescribed. For HHC this means:
- Permit requirement: Anyone who wants to manufacture narcotics, trade in them, import, export, supply, sell or acquire them needs a permit from the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices under § 3 BtMG.
- Trade, import and acquisition: Without a permit they are punishable under § 29 BtMG.
- Possession: Under § 29 BtMG, anyone who possesses narcotics without also holding a written permit for their acquisition is liable to prosecution.
The entry for hexahydrocannabinol names two exceptions. First, cannabis for medical or medical-scientific purposes within the meaning of the Medical Cannabis Act. Second, non-synthetic forms that are on the market for non-medical purposes. Traded HHC was produced semi-synthetically and therefore does not fall under the exception for non-synthetic forms.
What the ban means for shops and customers
I LOVE POT removed HHC from its range in June 2024. The ban applies regardless of the product form, so also to HHC vapes and HHC flowers.
Which products I Love Pot carries today
In the range you will find, among other things, HHZ products with vapes, flowers, hash and pre-rolls, THZ Vapes and CBD products with vapes, flowers, hash and pre-rolls. HHZ is currently listed neither in the BtMG nor in the NpSG annex (as of August 2026). The legal situation regarding cannabinoids can change, and the current state of the law is always decisive.
