What is fly agaric (Amanita muscaria)?
With its red cap and white spots, fly agaric is probably the best-known mushroom in Europe. Its botanical name is Amanita muscaria. It grows mainly under birch, spruce and pine trees and is found across the whole northern hemisphere.
The typical compounds of fly agaric are ibotenic acid and muscimol. During drying, part of the ibotenic acid converts into muscimol. The content depends strongly on location, harvest time and processing. For this reason, two harvests from the same region often differ clearly.

Is fly agaric legal in Germany?
In Germany, fly agaric and its compounds ibotenic acid and muscimol are not listed in the Narcotics Act (BtMG). We do not sell the powder as a food, but as a natural product for adults.
